[Spoken Word] When the heat is over, do not snap the spell with jokes, with sudden light, with errands that pretend the night was only a scene. Let her remain a dancer in the quiet. Let him remain the one she circled. The roles do not expire just because the hips have stopped. Water. Cloth. A forehead to a chest. The last slow sway with no audience and no next instruction. Speak only if speech can keep the same temperature the bodies just used. Otherwise let silence finish what the drum began. Reverence is what remains when the music has thinned and you still do not treat each other as finished with. [Chorus] The dance does not end when the body stills. It ends only when you forget how you stood in it.
