[Pause] ...Dream Sequence, Fragment Zero-Four. [Pause] ...Location: Salon of Hôtel Pimodan, Paris. [Long Pause] ...And then... there was the man sitting directly across from Sina. [Pause] ...John sat bolt upright in his chair. [Pause] ...He was the only one at the table not wearing oriental robes... but the immaculate, dark dress uniform of a Fleet Captain... adorned with medals that caught the pale candlelight. [Pause] ...In this psychedelic opium den, he felt like a foreign body... forged in some distant, ice-cold galaxy. [Long Pause] ...His eyes locked onto Sina with terrifying, sober discipline... entirely out of place in the room's heavy haze. [Pause] ...He held his cards as if they were the tactical casualty reports... of a dying fleet. [Long Pause] ...Sina brushed a blonde lock from her face... leaned back comfortably, and studied him through cool, ocean-deep blue eyes. [Pause] ...“You don’t belong in this sandbox, Biff,” she said in her smoky, effortlessly relaxed voice... as the distorted piano struck a bizarre, discordant chord. [Pause] ...“Your uniform is far too tight for this century... What kind of game are you even playing?” [Long Pause] ...John held her gaze without blinking. [Pause] ...The hum in the back of his mind... the asynchronous ticking of hundreds of pocket watches... grew louder... synchronizing for a fleeting second with the strange piano notes. [Pause] ...He felt the immense, processor-like depth humming behind the blue eyes of this woman in silk. [Pause] ...It made him dizzy... but his military armor held firm. [Long Pause] ...He slowly laid his cards face up in the center of the table. [Pause] ...The mahogany vibrated faintly beneath his fingertips. [Pause] ...“I play the hand I am dealt, Mademoiselle,” John answered in a rough, commanding tone. [Pause] ...“Though I do not know the rules of this deck.” [Long Pause] ...Sina looked down at the cards. [Pause] ...There were no numbers, no Kings, and no Aces. [Pause] ...On John’s first card, two tiny stars shimmered... orbiting each other in an endless, hypnotic spiral... as if locked in an eternal gravitational pull. [Long Pause] ...Beside it lay a fractured hourglass... its sands swirling in circles instead of falling down. [Pause] ...Followed by a pitch-black cube... casting no shadow at all, drinking in the candlelight. [Long Pause] ...Sina let out a soft, amused laugh that echoed through the smoky salon like fine crystal. [Pause] ...“Interesting hand, Biff,” she murmured. [Long Pause] ...She fanned out her own cards... and placed the final, missing piece of the puzzle right beside his: [Pause] ...An intricately detailed, flickering eye... its iris woven from microscopic circuits, pulsing in sync with the piano's tempo. [Long Pause] ...John stared at the eye... and an icy shiver ran down his spine. [Pause] ...His internal systems flashed a massive, nameless error in the space-time continuum. [Long Pause] ...In that very moment, the four symbols on the mahogany table began to glow with blinding brilliance. [Pause] ...They merged like liquid white light... wiping the illustrations clean, leaving behind only blank, gleaming cards. [Long Pause] ...The entire salon began to dissolve into green mist. [Pause] ...The distorted piano stretched its notes into infinity... the walls took one last, deep breath... and the intoxicated séance of Paris collapsed inside the system cache. [Outro] (Asynchronous piano note dissolving into digital static glitch) (Slow fade out to complete silence) [End]
