Clean acoustic guitar strums add warmth. Soft harmonies hum the melody quietly) (Lead, soft and tender) Yeah… You gotta see it when the skies turn grey… That’s when you really know… [VERSE 1] You got flowers when the sun was shining bright Sweet words whispered in the warmest light Everyone came round to see you smile Said they’d be with you for every mile But when the clouds rolled in and the wind blew strong Most of them faded, they were already gone Left you standing there out in the rain Wondering who would stay through the pain [PRE-HOOK] ‘Cause anyone can hold you when the days are fair Anyone can promise they will always care But when the thunder rolls and the rain falls deep That’s the only time you really get to see… [HOOK] (Full 4-part harmony kicks in – classic 98° blend: high falsetto, mid-tenors, warm baritone) Anyone can love you when the sun is shining But in the storms is where you learn who truly cares for you I won’t run for cover when the skies turn grey I’ll be right beside you every step of the way Through the wind, through the rain, through the darkest night I’m yours forever – I’m your only light Anyone can love you when the sun is shining But in the storms is where you know my love is true for you [VERSE 2] I’ve seen the faces change when times get hard Seen empty promises fall apart But what I feel for you it don’t fade away It burns brighter on the darkest day I don’t need blue skies to show I’m true I don’t need clear days to stay with you If the world turns cold and the storm rages long I’ll be the shelter that you can call your own [PRE-HOOK] ‘Cause anyone can hold you when the days are fair Anyone can promise they will always care But when the thunder rolls and the rain falls deep That’s the only time you really get to see… [HOOK] Anyone can love you when the sun is shining But in the storms is where you learn who truly cares for you I won’t run for cover when the skies turn grey I’ll be right beside you every step of the way Through the wind, through the rain, through the darkest night I’m yours forever – I’m your only light Anyone can love you when the sun is shining But in the storms is where you know my love is true for you [BRIDGE] (Beat pulls back – just piano + harmonies building slowly) (Harmonies swell) Let the rain fall down… Let the wind blow wild… I’m gonna stay right here… I’m gonna love you like a child… No more wondering if I’m here to stay I’m with you through every season, every day Only love that stays is love that lasts through the storm That’s the love I give you – safe and warm [FINAL HOOK] (Full production swells – harmonies peak, gentle strings lift the melody) Anyone can love you when the sun is shining But in the storms is where you learn who truly cares for you I won’t run for cover when the skies turn grey I’ll be right beside you every step of the way Through the wind, through the rain, through the darkest night I’m yours forever – I’m your only light Anyone can love you when the sun is shining But in the storms is where you know my love is true for you [OUTRO] (Instrumentation fades soft – piano and harmonies only) (Lead, gentle) Yeah… When the sun fades away… I’m still here… Always… (Final soft harmony chord rings out)
