The rain fell soft on the garden's face Late summer rain; Left no trace Now the sun breaks yellow and kind Time my gardening boots to find. It’s weed pulling weather So clear So bright Soil on my hands And the world feels right Roots come easy No struggle No fight It's weed pulling weather From first light. A long lazy summer has left its mark Nettles crowd where blooms should spark But here I stand My shadow long Humming low this weeding song Each stem a rhythm Each root a rhyme The weeds no longer marking time It’s weed pulling weather So clear So bright Soil on my hands And the world feels right Roots come easy No struggle No fight It's weed pulling weather From first light. The garden forgives my lazy days. Cleans the slate in its quiet ways, With me to help. To lovingly tend. The cycle turns No start No end.
