Verse 1 I love You, Lord, my strength and my steady ground When the darkness wrapped around me, You pulled me out When the waters rose to drown me, You heard my cry And Your glory split the heavens, lightning in Your eyes Chorus You are my Rock, my refuge forever My shield, my song, my mighty defender When I was sinking, You carried me higher My God, my God, You are my fire Verse 2 When the earth began to tremble, You stood for me Every enemy that circled had to flee You lifted me from shadows into open space Because You take delight in me, I stand in grace Bridge You train my hands for battle You steady every step You light my path with mercy You raise me from the depths Final Chorus You are my Rock, my refuge forever My shield, my song, my mighty defender You break the darkness, You scatter the night My God, my God, You are my light
