Loka Kviða I Fjaðrham færði, flaug um heima, Laufeyjar sonr, lævíss jötunn; gullnum kolli Sifjar rænti, dverga vélti, dáðum fúll. II Hross varð hvítt við húsasmið, gat í laumi gráan hest; Sleipnir fæddist, snarr á fótum, bar hann Óðin braut til valhallar. III Ulfrinn óx ok ormr í sæ, Hel tók ríki hálfblá undir; Loka börn öll lífi granda, ættar böl ára öllum. IV Mistiltein skar, manni blindum hendr hann stýrði, hörmung mikil; Baldr fell fagr á flötum velli, hvarf sól heims, heiptir vöknuðu. V Bundinn liggr á beð af steini, eitr drýpr ofan, angr né léttir; bifast jörð þá Bölverkr kippist, bíðr hefndar at heims enda. +--------><----------+ The Lay of Loki (English Translation) I He donned the feather-cloak and flew across the worlds, Laufey’s son, the crafty giant; he sheared the golden head of Sif in malice, tricked the dwarves, foul in his deeds. II A white mare he became before the master-builder, bore in secret a gray foal; Sleipnir was born, swift on eight feet, carrying Odin away to Valhalla. III The wolf grew wild, the serpent swelled the sea, and half-blue Hel claimed the dark realm below; all of Loki's spawn bring doom to life, a kin-curse cast on all the ages. IV He shaped the mistletoe, guided the blind god's hand in deceit, a bitter sorrow; fair Baldr fell upon the open grass, the world’s sun dimmed, and hatred woke. V Now bound he lies upon a bed of stone, venom drips from above, his agony never ceases; the earth quakes whenever the schemer writhes, waiting for vengeance at the twilight of the world.
