FRANK 027 – I Shall Be with You on Your Wedding Night | Frankenstein

(Verse 1) The Creature saw his promised bride destroyed before his sight, And every hope of fellowship was buried in that night. He turned upon his maker with hatred cold and clear, And spoke a final warning that Victor learned to fear. (Verse 2) He swore that on his wedding night his vengeance would be shown, And Victor heard the sentence as judgement on his own. He thought the Creature meant him, that death would be his fate, And armed himself in secret for the hour he must await. (Chorus) He shall be there beside him when wedding candles burn, A shadow at the threshold that surely will return. But Victor read the warning through terror in his head, And never saw whose blood would pay the promise of the dead. (Verse 3) He pictured their last struggle beneath the bridal moon, And counted every heartbeat that brought the evening soon. He thought himself the quarry and watched each darkened door, While danger chose another whom Victor loved far more. (Verse 4) The threat became his future, a clock within his mind, A sentence moving with him that nothing left behind. Yet pride and fear together concealed the dreadful clue, For vengeance aimed beyond him at love he thought he knew. (Chorus) He shall be there beside him when wedding candles burn, A shadow at the threshold that surely will return. But Victor read the warning through terror in his head, And never saw whose blood would pay the promise of the dead. (Bridge) The Creature knew his weakness, the heart that Victor prized, And shaped his words so vengeance remained there undisguised. Yet Victor made the meaning a threat against his breath, And walked towards his wedding believing he faced death. (Outro) The broken vow on Orkney had summoned what would come, And every road to marriage now echoed like a drum. He waited for the monster to strike him in the night, Unknowing that his dearest love already stood in sight.
