Make Room in Me (Bethlehem)

Verse 1 A royal line in common dust, the road to Bethlehem; Joseph walks and Mary prays, “Be near us, God of them.” Crowded streets and weary feet, they knock and hear, “Not tonight.” Still they trust the Father’s hand to lead them by His light. Pre-Chorus When every door says “No,” and hope feels paper thin, Your covenant love still finds a way to enter in. Chorus Make room in me, O Lord of Bethlehem, Where pride has walled You out; Lay peace where fear keeps watch at night, And silence every doubt. You chose a manger for Your throne, To teach my heart to live— Make room in me, O Son of God; My life is Yours to give. Verse 2 Her Firstborn Child, in swaddling wrapped, laid down where cattle fed; Heaven’s promise breathing here, the Word of life now spread. Not crowns of gold, but straw and cloth—so low, so pure, so kind; The Holy One of Israel within our hearts to find. Bridge In our homes and halls and chapels, In the noise and in the still, Open space in us for Jesus; Tune our hearts to do Thy will. Where there’s “no room,” make a stable; Where there’s darkness, kindle day— Born to save, Emmanuel, be born in us today. Final Chorus (tag) Make room in me… O Son of God; My life is Yours to give.
