New York State of Fines

+ Show full styles

Somewhere along a New York highway, hidden just beyond the guardrail and the trees, a New York State Trooper sits quietly watching the road. Traffic moves fast out here. Commuters heading home. A yellow taxi racing toward the city. Delivery vans and tractor-trailers rolling north and south like a constant river of headlights. Most drivers feel comfortable once they leave the city behind. The road opens up, the lanes get wide, and the speed slowly creeps up… five over… maybe ten. And that’s when it happens. You catch the faint flash of red and blue reflecting off a highway sign. You glance toward the tree line. And there it is. A dark State Police cruiser tucked just far enough into the brush that it almost disappears into the Hudson Valley greenery. It’s been there the whole time. Still. Quiet. Patient. Watching traffic roll by like it’s a front-row seat to the fastest show in New York. You don’t always see them. But on roads across New York… they definitely see you. 🚔
