STUDIO

Deep in the Louisiana bayou, where the world ends in mud, the most dangerous lights are not the stars. They are the Feu Follet—the "Crazy Fires"—wandering souls of the unbaptized, trapped between worlds. They shine with an unsettling, beautiful glow, promising guidance to the lost. But follow them, and you will find your final, quiet resting place in the mud, consumed by the same cold fire that brought them to life. They do not guide. They simply collect. This song is loosely based on very old Creole folk stories of will-o'-wisp in the bayou. A warning to young and old, not to follow these lights... As a short note for those who like to read... I have several more dark themed songs planed for this fall season leading up to Halloween. I do hope you stop by and enjoy their stories and sounds. 👻-MB ----------------------------------- Lyrics by : Modern Bard Lyrics and Music: © 2025 Modern Bard All rights reserved. ----------------------------------- 🪦If you enjoy this, check out my Hip Hop / Funk playlist: 👉https://suno.com/playlist/5acbb8e3-f147-4521-9b16-99d79212be27 ----------------------------------- French Creole lyrics were lost to the Feu Follet... Thankfully an English translation was found at the bottom of a dry well: In the mud, where there is no end, Little balls of fire, are pulling us into the night. There is no salvation, there is no hope, Just dirty spirits, and a bad law. They are the spirits of those who died before baptism, Little lights that play with you without reason. Sing with us the sermon of the mud! Let's get lost, let's get lost in this run! Look at the lights, they will lose you! It's the devil's path, without return, without a priest! The first is the soul that wanted to steal, It shows you a path but has no pity. The second is the light that wanted to lie, It comes in friendship to bring death. Each light is a betrayal, each path is underground, It's the law of the bayou, a law that can never be forgotten. Sing with us the sermon of the mud! Let's get lost, let's get lost in this run! Look at the lights, they will lose you! It's the devil's path, without return, without a priest! Mambo, Mambo, queen of New Orleans, Lend us your power, give us the dance. Let's run away from this fire, into the darkness. Forever...
