[HATE AIN’T HOLY-Hard rock / gothic metal anthem about religious hypocrisy] Stained glass saints with venom in their veins Sunday morning halos, Monday loaded chains Quote the scripture like a sharpened blade Preachin’ love while they’re diggin’ graves Gold cross glitter on a tailored suit Hide the rot beneath the polished roots Say “forgive” with a clenched up fist Kiss the crown while the poor get missed They scream heaven from ivory towers While they poison all the holy waters Judge the broken, praise the proud Wearin’ mercy like a burial shroud [CHORUS] Hate ain’t holy Fire ain’t divine You can’t wash blood away With a scripture line If God is love Then what are you? A wolf in white Bleedin’ truth black and blue Hate ain’t holy No matter what you say You can’t crucify the world Then kneel and pray Your cathedral’s built On fear and control But hate ain’t holy And it’s eatin’ your soul Televised salvation sold by the pound Dollar signs swinging censers around Cherry-pick verses to fit the scene While the desperate disappear unseen You damn the lost, worship power and fame Then tattoo righteousness onto your name You talk of sinners like you’re untouched But the loudest prayers often hide the rust [PRE-CHORUS] If heaven’s gates are locked by pride Then tell me who gets left outside? The ones who loved? Or the ones who lied? [CHORUS] Hate ain’t holy Fire ain’t divine You can’t wash blood away With a scripture line If God is love Then what are you? A wolf in white Bleedin’ truth black and blue [BRIDGE] I still believe there’s light somewhere Beyond the smoke and millionaire prayers Maybe God don’t live in gold Maybe heaven hates control Maybe saints don’t throw the stones Maybe love don’t break bones Maybe faith was never meant To become a monument [FINAL CHORUS] Hate ain’t holy Remember that sound Every scream of judgment Drags your heaven down You built your throne On fear and shame But love survives What hatred cannot tame Hate ain’t holy No cross can make it so And the truth walks barefoot Where the blind won’t go
