[Intro] I wore my favorite red shoes today. They said they made me look confident. I believed them for seven minutes. [Verse 1] I walked into the party like a very normal person. I held my glass, I nodded my head, I listened to a man. His father stopped calling him after Christmas. He showed me a picture of a tree he planted when he was nineteen. The tree was taller than him now. He looked very proud. And I stood there doing my best impression of a person. [Verse 2] Then someone turned the music up a little too loud. A girl in a yellow sweater told me we should be best friends. She asked me my zodiac sign. I opened my mouth. Nothing came out. And I forgot how to speak English. [Little Chorus] I think I’ll jump out the kitchen window. Or maybe I’ll just go home. Drink tea in the dark. I tried to be social. I tried to be sweet. That was enough for today. [Verse 3] They have two small cats locked in the bedroom upstairs. I sat on the wooden floor and listened to them breathe. They didn’t ask me any questions. They didn’t need a better version of me. [Bridge] I am currently sitting on the toilet lid in the main bathroom. I’ve been here for twenty-four minutes. I looked at my red shoes under the bathroom door. They still looked confident. I didn’t. Someone knocked three times and asked: "Are you okay in there?" I said: "Yes, I'm just looking at my shoes." And then I stayed for ten more minutes. [Final Chorus] I think I’ll jump out the kitchen window. I don't hate anyone, I just don't belong here. I tried to be social, I tried for seven minutes. Now I'll just jump. But first... I'll put my shoes back on. [Outro] My red shoes are dirty now. Bye.
