ASCENSION [VERSUS RESPONSE TO @AB&B]
[0:00–0:11 | STAREDOWN] Low light. Clear sight. I stopped asking who was blocking the door— when I noticed I was holding it. [snare crack] Ascension. [0:11–0:39 | VERSE 1 — THE READ] I used to call every impulse instinct, every reaction real. Till I learned what I wanted could bend what I thought I could see and feel. So I separated hunger from vision, noise from the signal I trust. Some thoughts wear gold on arrival— still turn green when you scrape off the rust. I quit confusing loud with certain, motion with knowing the route. A crowded mind loves applause 'cause applause keeps the questions out. Now I measure the measure. Check weight before calling it true. If my angle changes the picture, then the first thing I question is view. [0:39–0:53 | HOOK] Rise— but don't lose your ground. See— before speaking the sound. Clear— what distorts what is there. The higher I go... the less I interfere. Ascension. Not above them. Above what blurred my perception. [0:53–1:23 | VERSE 2 — THE COUNTER] I learned the self got attorneys. Every desire can build its defense. Make appetite sound like destiny, make jealousy sound like sense. So now when anger enters the room, I don't hand it the microphone first. I let the feeling state its case— then ask what happened before the verse. That's discipline. Not suppression. Difference is subtle but vast. One buries the smoke in the basement. One finds what started the match. I don't polish a flaw into doctrine just because admitting it stings. Truth ain't smaller when I lose— I get larger when truth still wins. [horn jab / snare answer] And every time pride says “protect me,” I ask: From what? A fact? If correction can break what I built, then I probably built it to crack. [1:23–1:39 | HOOK] Rise— but don't lose your ground. See— before speaking the sound. Clear— what distorts what is there. The higher I go... the less I interfere. Ascension. Not above them. Above what blurred my perception. [1:39–1:58 |BREAK] High punch— I don't flinch. Low kick— I read stance. You can fake with the hands, but the weight always tells where you stand. Block— reset. Don't answer before you inspect. A mind that's addicted to winning will lose just to feel correct. [false drop] [1:58–2:27 | VERSE 3 — THE ASCENT] Now language got lighter because vision got heavy with depth. I don't need sixteen decorations if eight clean words leave breath. That's form through clarity. Meaning no longer begging technique to impress. When the thought has found its center, even silence can finish the sentence. I learned balance ain't fifty-fifty. It's giving each thing what it weighs. Mercy don't cancel discernment. Patience doesn't mean delay. Strength ain't dominating space. Sometimes power is leaving it free. And freedom ain't doing whatever— it's no longer being ruled by what lowers me. [bass returns heavier] So every bar is a staircase. Every rhyme gotta earn elevation. I don't ascend by escaping the ground— I ascend through clearer relation: self to consequence, word to intention, choice to the mark that it leaves. The sharpest eye ain't the one seeing farthest— it's the one least fooled by what it sees. [2:27–2:47 | FINAL HOOK] Rise— with your feet on the ground. See— till the false falls down. Clear— every lens you inherited. The higher I go... the less distortion gets carried with it. Ascension. Not fame. Not rank. Not somebody beneath my position. Ascension is when clearer perception creates a higher decision. [2:47–2:58 | CODA] I thought elevation meant getting above. Turns out... it meant seeing without needing the lie. [silence] Now that's height.
