Verse 1 There was a shop on Willow Street Bell above a weathered door Sawdust dancing with the morning light Blood stains in the wooden floor Old man never spoke too much Hands like leather, eyes like rain He’d nod his head and sharpen steel Like he knew everyone’s pain Pre-Chorus In the back there stood an oakwood barrel Nobody dared to ask him why He’d only smile and softly whisper… Chorus “Everything finds the butcher’s brine.” The things you lose, the things you hide Dreams that never saw daylight Promises that slowly died Time can carve you to the bone Leave you with what’s left inside Nothing’s ever truly gone… Everything finds the butcher’s brine. Verse 2 Years rolled by like freight train wheels The shop became another ghost Kids grew old, the roads moved on The ones we loved became the most… forgotten. One October I came back Door was hanging off one side Dust had settled everywhere Except that barrel full of brine. Pre-Chorus Floating there beneath the surface Were things I’d buried long ago My father’s watch… my wedding letter… Faces only memory knows. Chorus Everything finds the butcher’s brine The things you lose, the things you hide Every laugh and every scar Every tear you swore had dried You can run a thousand miles You can cross the great divide But your soul remembers where… Everything finds the butcher’s brine. Bridge I reached inside that salted water Pulled out pieces of my name Not to live those days again… Just to thank them for the pain. The old man wasn’t there to find Only one note left behind… “Nothing worth becoming ever spoils… If you have the heart to carry it.” Final Chorus Everything finds the butcher’s brine Not to haunt you, not to bind Just to keep the truth alive Until the day your eyes align We’re all carved by what we keep And cured by passing time That’s the secret in the barrel… That’s the butcher’s brine. Outro Now there’s an oak barrel in my shed… And every now and then… I drop another memory in. ——————— Written and produced by @vinnyleaf Vinnyleaf Music 2026
