[Verse 1] It would never have come to this, My old partner would never approve. Reaching out to help a friend Would never have happened without you. I think Jesus wanted me too. [Verse 2] Life brings joy, greed fuels the past. Seeing a sad man smile Gives fire to the soul at last. I think Jesus wanted me too. [Chorus] [Lead] The road’s been rocky, The gravel left scars. My old partner just laughed Every time I fell hard— Said he’d carry me down Where the fires brew. [Choir] But the light broke through, The light broke through. [Lead] Bright sunshine came through, I got up and walked tall. [Choir] Jesus wanted you, Jesus wanted you. [Lead] I think Jesus wanted me too. [Verse 3] Turning to help strangers and friends Brought strength and power that never bends. You give of your best, Chuck all the rest, And the journey grows light And every day stays bright. Doing your best And helping the rest— I think Jesus wanted me too. [Bridge] Everything feels good, Turn off the noise. Turn your head to the sun, Stand firm in your choice. [Choir] Lift your eyes, Lift your eyes. [Lead] Knowing you have won— I think Jesus wanted me too. [Final Chorus] [Lead] The road’s been rocky, The gravel left scars. My old partner just laughed When I fell in the dark. [Choir] He don’t own you, He don’t own you. [Lead] But the sunshine broke through, Raised me up strong and true. [Choir] Jesus wanted you, Jesus wanted you. [Lead] I think Jesus wanted me too. [Tag] I think Jesus wanted me too.
