Paper 183 – The Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus 🎢 Song: The Victory Before the Chains (Verse 1 – The Olive Press) Beside the ancient olive trees, Beneath the night wind's gentle breeze, The Master sat alone and still, Surrendered to the Father's will. No angel sword, No legion's might, No miracle would end this night. The battle had already been won Before the soldiers ever came. Not in the courts. Not at the cross. But in the silent depths Of the human soul. Verse 2 – The Decision) He did not seek a martyr's crown. He did not call destruction down. He did not run. He did not hide. He simply chose to walk the road The Father had supplied. For He had come to live as man, To know the whole mortal span. Not half the journey. Not part of the way. But every human step. Until the final day. (Chorus) The victory came before the chains. Before the trial. Before the pain. Before the kiss. Before the tree. The battle was won in Gethsemane. No fear ruled Him. No darkness stayed. The Son of God had freely made The choice to trust. The choice to stand. The choice to place His life. Within the Father's hand. (Verse 3 – Judas in the Night) Through narrow streets the traitor ran, Trying to manage his desperate plan. The silver weighed upon his mind. The promised gain was hard to find. The closer that the moment came, The less control remained. Ambition turned to unrest. Pride turned into fear. The path he thought would bring him power Only drew disaster near. (Verse 4 – The Kiss Unneeded) Torches flickered through the trees. Armor rattled in the breeze. The guards approached. The crowd drew near. Yet strangely, The calmest man was there. "Whom do you seek?" The answer came: "We seek Jesus of Nazareth." Then without hesitation, Without delay, "I am he." What need remained for Judas' kiss? The Master stood revealed. The traitor's sign became almost needless, For truth had never concealed itself. (Chorus) The victory came before the chains. Before the trial. Before the pain. Before the mockery and cries, Before the darkness filled the skies. The world thought power had arrived. Yet real power. Was the soul unmoved, Faithful and fully alive. (Verse 5 – The Last Mercy) Even then He spoke with grace. Even then He sought to save. One more word. One final plea. One last doorway left for Judas Before eternity. The heart of Michael never ceased To offer love and light. Even standing face to face With betrayal in the night. (Bridge – Fear and Affliction) He knew affliction. He knew sorrow. He knew the weight of tomorrow. He knew rejection. He knew pain. He knew what waited in the coming day. But fear was never master there. No panic ruled. No despair. The burden pressed upon His soul. Yet perfect trust remained in control. (Verse 6 – The Boy of Nazareth) At fourteen years He bore the load Of guiding a household on life's road. A father's place. A brother's care. Learning duty through love and prayer. The years had forged. A steady heart. Long before Jerusalem played its part. The cross was not the first hard test. Faithfulness had marked all the rest. (Verse 7 – David Zebedee) And while confusion gripped the band, One faithful servant took his stand. No sword raised high. No boastful claim. Only loyalty to the Master's name. His runners waited through the night, Ready to carry the coming light. Others doubted. Others fled. David remembered every word Jesus said. Three days. He believed. Before his eyes would ever see. (Final Chorus) The victory came before the chains. Before the nails. Before the pain. Before the tomb. Before the dawn. The Son had already carried on. Not conquered. Not overcome. But faithful to what He had become. A perfect man. A Creator Son. Completing the race He had begun. (Outro) The soldiers thought they made an arrest. The priests thought they had won. The traitor thought he changed history. The apostles thought all hope was gone. Yet beside the olive press, Under heaven's silent sky, The greatest victory had already happened. A man had chosen. The Father's will. Completely. And nothing afterward. Could defeat that choice. βœ¨πŸ“–πŸ™πŸŒΏ
