The weekend is finally dead and gone, The golden rays of Monday dawn! I leapt from my bed with a joyful shout, To the office, where peace is without a doubt! All weekend I dreamed of this sacred space, Of staring right into my screen's bright face. Oh, Monday, sweet Monday, my blissful retreat, A desk and a keyboard. Oh, victory sweet! No weekend honey-dos, no chaos or dread, I’d rather file taxes than stay home instead! To work, to work, to work I fly, Underneath Monday's beautiful sky! The quiet room hums with a soothing air, Just me and my chair, without a care. No wife whispering chores in my weary ear, No awkward small talk with her guests to fear "Could you fix the garage? Could you paint the wall?" While I'm trapped hosting friends I don't like at all! And oh, the kids' birthday party from hell, Where sugar-fed toddlers screamed and fell, While I played a pony for twenty small fiends, And cleaned up the glitter in all of my jeans! Then Uncle Bob cornered me, talking for hours About his weird theories on organic flowers. Pour the hot coffee, lock the door tight, Everything here is peaceful and right. No lawnmower breaking, no plumbing to leak... Thank goodness I'm finally safe for the week! To work! To work! Ahhh... pure vacation.
