the heart never stopped beating and God kept holding

[Verse 1] The heart kept beating Under the weight of blame You turned away from me But I still called your name Hands in the ashes Eyes on the broken floor I wore that sorrow Like a locked and bolted door [Pre-Chorus] But You never let go You never let me fall You were holding my chest When I could not stand tall [Chorus] Eternal life That is Your name Eternal life You carried my shame Eternal life You opened the gate The name of forgiveness The name of forgiveness [Verse 2] The betrayal was sin Sharp like a winter blade Still mercy met me Where my confession stayed I walked in the darkness You came with holy light A wound turned prayerful By the end of the night [Pre-Chorus] And You never let go You never let me drown Your mercy found me When I was going down [Chorus] Eternal life That is Your name Eternal life You carried my shame Eternal life You opened the gate The name of forgiveness The name of forgiveness [Bridge] I was the one who ran You were the One who stayed I was the one who broke You were the price You paid The heart never stopped beating When my own hope grew thin God never stopped holding me And pulled me back in [Final Chorus] Eternal life That is Your name Eternal life You carried my shame Eternal life You opened the gate The name of forgiveness The name of forgiveness Eternal life I sing it again Eternal life It covers my sin Eternal life Forever Your face The name of forgiveness The name of forgiveness
