# THE SPACE BETWEEN US Blue light spilling through the curtains, midnight breathing on the glass, your perfume tangled in the silence like a secret meant to last. Black silk slipping off your shoulder, moonlight caught beneath your skin, you don't have to say you're tempted I can feel it pulling in. There's a tremor in the music, there's a question in your eyes, and the room keeps getting smaller every time you don't reply. Don't explain it. Don't confess. Some things taste better when they're left unsaid. There's a space between us where the dangerous things begin, where a stranger can become a secret before the night lets them in. No promises, no answers, nothing we have to define. Just leave a little room for wanting on the other side of the line. If you feel the invitation, you don't have to ask me why. There's a space between us. Come see what's inside. Your fingers tracing circles round the edge of my glass, like you're drawing little doorways to a place we shouldn't pass. I can taste the conversation that we're never gonna have, every word beneath your whisper hanging somewhere in the black. There's a shadow by the doorway, or perhaps it's only smoke. Funny how the darkest rooms make the quietest things feel close. You look at me like trouble. I look at you like truth. And somewhere underneath the rhythm something ancient wants to move. Don't deny it. Don't decide. Let the night choose which side of the line. Maybe it's the wine. Maybe it's the rain. Maybe it's the way you keep saying my name. Maybe it's the silence when she looks at you. Maybe it's the question none of us ask out loud. Don't answer. Just stay. Let the music make the choice. Sometimes the truth doesn't need a voice. The candle bends toward the darkness, the record turns beneath the needle, three reflections in the window but only two are in the room. Your shadow touches hers. Hers disappears into mine. And suddenly the space between us doesn't feel like space tonight. There's a space between us where the beautiful things begin, where a secret isn't dangerous until somebody lets it in. No promises, no answers, no need to cross the line. Just leave the door a little open and let the darkness decide. If you feel the invitation, darling, you already know. There's a space between us. That's where the wild things go. Don't ask what happens next. Don't ask who it's for. Just leave the light on... and leave the door. The night knows what it wants. And so do we.
