Shrine of The Crows - The Delta Ouroboros

+ Show full styles

Down where the blackwater bends in its sleep, I saw the serpent drink what it couldn’t keep. Scales of silt, eyes of clay, It eats the dawn and spits out day. The tide comes in with a preacher’s tongue, Crooning hymns to the dead unsung. Every flood I’ve damned just blooms again, Every sin reborn in the river’s vein. I am the Delta, I am the flood, Circle of teeth, communion of mud. The mouth that devours, the womb that forgives, The end that begins so the end still lives. The water curls like a spine of smoke, Every breath I take, the current broke. I’ve seen the cross sink, seen the crown rust, The river swore both back to dust. Roots reach up where the stars once were, Heaven bleeds black through the myrrh. And in that hush between draw and drown, The serpent sleeps with its stomach crowned. I am the Delta, I am the flood, Circle of teeth, communion of mud. The mouth that devours, the womb that forgives, The end that begins so the end still lives. There’s no start, no final shore, Just water remembering water before. Every ghost, every god I’ve met, Was me… just not finished yet. I am the hunger that sows the seed, I rot, I bloom, I break, I bleed. The Delta turns, the current sways, The serpent feeds… One breath to drown, one breath to live, The flood takes all… and still forgives.
