[Verse 1] She left before the daylight With a basket in her hand Mother said, “Don't lose the pathway” But she never made a plan Through the trees the branches twisted Like fingers reaching down Every house was left abandoned Every chimney blackened out [Pre-Chorus] Something followed Something knew Every step she took It took one too [Chorus] **Run, little red, run** There's a wolf behind the trees **Run, little red, run** Hear him breathing through the leaves Don't look back Don't make a sound When the moon comes crawling out **Run, little red, run** He's been waiting for you [Verse 2] She found a house with broken windows Door hanging from one hinge Blood was painted on the kitchen Like a warning on the wall There was something in the bedroom Something wearing Grandma's skin And the voice that called her closer Wasn't Grandma's voice within [Pre-Chorus] Something whispered Something smiled “Come a little closer, child…” [Chorus] **Run, little red, run** There's a wolf behind the trees **Run, little red, run** He's got hunger in his teeth Don't look back Don't make a sound He's already found you now **Run, little red, run** You were never leaving [Breakdown] **TEETH IN THE DARK** **BLOOD ON THE DOOR** **SOMETHING IS KNOCKING** **BUT THERE'S NO ONE ANYMORE** **RUN** **RUN** **RUN** [Verse 3] She took the axe beside the fireplace And waited in the dark He came crawling through the doorway With her grandmother's voice “Little Red, you must be frightened…” She heard the old wolf speak But the hand beneath the blanket Had claws instead of skin [Bridge] And the forest started breathing And the moon began to turn Every path became a circle Every tree began to burn She looked into the wolf's eyes And saw herself inside Not a child beneath the hood now But the thing that learned to bite [Final Chorus] **Run, little red, run** But the wolf is in your blood **Run, little red, run** You can never outrun love Take the hood Take the knife Take the darkness as your bride **Run, little red, run** Now the wolf runs beside you [Outro] Little red went walking Where the old road disappeared They say the wolf still hunts there But nobody asks **Who is hunting who?**
