In Remembrance of all the lives lost in 9-11-2001 "May We Never Forget" 💔 I remember that September morning, The kind of morning you don't think twice about. Coffee on the counter, television running, Then suddenly nothing felt normal anymore. I watched the pictures on the television, Watched people searching through the smoke. I didn't know their names or where they came from, But somehow every face felt close. I remember all those sirens, One after another down the road. Then I saw those firefighters running Into a place nobody should have gone. Police were pulling people from the buildings, Strangers carrying strangers to safety. Some were walking toward the danger While everybody else was trying to get away. I didn't know who they were... I didn't know their names... But when the pictures started coming, Nothing felt the same. And somewhere between the disbelief and tears, We knew we'd never be the same. When the world stood still, And everything we knew changed, We reached for someone we loved And held on a little tighter that day. We watched the sky, We watched the smoke, We watched a country try to understand What nobody could explain. We still remember. We still remember their names. We still remember. I remember flags on every porch, Candles burning through the night. People checking on their neighbors, Leaving porch lights on for strangers. For a little while, we slowed down, We looked each other in the eyes. We didn't ask where someone came from, We just asked if they were alright. And I think about the families, The ones who never got them home. The birthdays that came without them, The Christmas mornings they faced alone. Children grew up with photographs, Learning someone's voice from an old tape. Learning how to live with missing pieces That time could never replace. Twenty-five years can pass... But some things don't get easier. You learn to live with what is missing, But you never stop remembering. Because some people leave this world, But they never leave your heart. When the world stood still, And everything we knew changed, We reached for someone we loved And held on a little tighter that day. We watched the sky, We watched the smoke, We watched a country try to understand What nobody could explain. We still remember. We still remember their names. We still remember. Somewhere there's a mother Who still keeps a picture by the bed. Somewhere there's a father Who still hears his child's voice in his head. Somewhere there's a husband Who still reaches across an empty side. Somewhere there's a little girl Who grew up wondering about her dad. And maybe that's the part We'll never understand— How one morning can divide a life Into everything before And everything after. We remember the innocent. We remember the brave. We remember the ones who went in. And the ones who never came home. We remember. When the world stood still, And everything we knew changed, We reached for someone we loved And held on a little tighter that day. We watched the sky, We watched the smoke, We watched a country try to understand What nobody could explain. Twenty-five years later, Some names still stop you in your tracks. We still remember. We still remember their names. We still remember. We will never forget. Never forget. We still remember their names. I still remember that morning. I still remember that day. And I still remember their names.
