It’ll Work Out (A Neural Ceasefire)

+ Show full styles

I’ve argued with the future all night long, Every version telling me I’m wrong. Ran the numbers till my head went thin, Still couldn’t find a place to land within. Then something softer cut me loose, Not a fact, not even a truth. Just a breath that said, “Stand down now,” Like a white flag waving from the brow. It’s not a promise, not a plan, It’s not pretending we understand. It’s the moment the sirens sleep, When the mind lets go and the body keeps. I don’t say it ‘cause I know it’s right, I say it ‘cause it ends the fight. Some wars don’t need to be won— They just need to be done. It’ll work out—call a ceasefire, Lower the guard, cut the wire. Not belief, not being sure, Just peace enough to endure. It’ll work out, let it be, A truce inside the circuitry. If tomorrow proves me wrong, Tonight still carried us along. It’ll work out, quiet and slow, That’s all the nervous system needs to know. Frankly… Not everything needs solving. Some things need settling.
