Song of Nightmare Night

[In[Opening – Soft & Mysterious] Hear the wind upon the eaves, Rustling branches, fallen leaves. Moonlight spills, the night takes flight, Ponies gather for the rite. [Verse 1 – Playful & Lively] Paint your face, disguise your name, Join the fun, join the game. Candy traded, torches bright, Celebrate the Nightmare Night! [Chorus – Festival Voices] Nightmare Night, oh what a fright, Lanterns glowing in the night! Fill her hunger, keep her tame, Or she'll come and call your name! [Verse 2 – Darker, Suspenseful] Through the clouds she spreads her wings, Searching eyes for trembling things. But if we dance, and none are near, Her shadow fades until next year. [Chorus – Strong, Community Sing-Along] Nightmare Night, oh what a fright, Masks and laughter, pale moonlight! Leave a sweet, and she won’t bite— We’re safe again ‘til morning light! [Bridge – Ritual Chant] To the effigy we go! Offer'd treats let spirits know: Sugar sweets and candied corn Keep us safe ‘til light is born! [Verse 3 – Carnival Atmosphere] Games of chance, the apples fall, Pumpkins lined along the wall. Every foal with heart alight, Hides from Nightmare’s hungry sight. [Final Chorus – Triumphant, All Voices] Nightmare Night, oh what a fright, Drums and fiddles sound tonight! Fill her belly, keep her bound, Safe ‘til next year comes around! [Finale – Whispered, Eerie] Every year we play this part, Candies shield each pony heart; Nightmare Moon won’t take her flight, If we remember… Nightmare Night. [Foals’ Candy Chant] Nightmare Night, what a fright! Give us something sweet to bite!
