FlowBot 3000: BUSY DOIN’ NOTHIN

V5.5

[Ω::FLOWBOT3000] [INTRO — G-FUNK / LAID-BACK TALK-RAP] Yeah. Ma. I'm busy. ... What am I doing? I'm handling something. [VERSE 1 — MORNING] [LAZY WEST COAST POCKET] Woke up at eleven, that's an early start. Grabbed the controller, got a tournament to chart. Mom said, “Did you sleep all day?” Nah. I was up late doing research on the game. She said, “Can you wash the dishes?” I said, “Right now?” Ma, I'm in the middle of something serious. She don't understand how the timing gets mysterious. I got one eye on the screen, one eye on my phone, one tab on the game, another one open. She said, “Your room looks terrible.” I said, “It's organized.” She looked at the floor. I said, “That's my system.” [HOOK — RAP CHANT / NO SINGING] I'm busy, don't bother me. Got important things that I'm trying to see. Momma, please, let me be. I got absolutely nothing scheduled until three. Then I'm busy again. [VERSE 2 — THE PHILOSOPHY] [SMOOTH / CONFIDENT] I ain't lazy. I'm conserving energy. Why waste calories on unnecessary activity? Dishes ain't going nowhere. Neither is the trash. Room gonna look the same if I clean it or I don't. That's math. She said, “Get a job.” I said, “Doing what?” She said, “Anything.” I said, “That's not specific enough.” She said, “You need a plan.” I said, “I got one.” “What's the plan?” “Don't rush it.” [PAUSE] That's wisdom. [VERSE 3 — THE INTERNET] [MORE RHYTHMIC] Phone fully charged, Wi-Fi running clean. I got subscriptions, notifications, feeds. Scroll. Click. Swipe. Repeat. Whole afternoon disappeared like it never happened. Mom knocked twice. I said, “Come in.” She said, “Have you eaten?” I said, “Technically.” She said, “What's technically?” I said, “I had chips.” She said, “That's not lunch.” I said, “Depends on the chip.” [POCKET SHIFT] See, this is what I'm saying. Nobody respects the modern lifestyle. [VERSE 4 — GAMING] [BOUNCING G-FUNK POCKET] Controller in my hand, headset on, locked in. Mom yelling from the kitchen, “Can you take the trash in?” I said, “After this.” She said, “You said that yesterday.” I said, “Exactly. And I haven't forgotten.” Ranked match. Final round. Whole squad waiting. I can't abandon my position just because she's frustrated. She said, “You've been sitting there for six hours.” I said, “That's commitment.” She said, “Commitment to what?” I said, “Winning.” [HARD STOP] Lost. [BEAT] Still counts. [VERSE 5 — THE ROOM] [LOW / DEADPAN] Clothes on the chair. Clothes on the floor. One sock by the bed. Can't find the other anymore. Pizza box from Tuesday. Cup from last night. Mom says, “This place is disgusting.” I said, “Don't touch anything. I know where everything is.” She said, “Where's your floor?” I said, “Underneath everything.” She walked away mad. I don't know why. Some people just don't appreciate organized supply. [ACCELERATION — CALM] Bills on the dresser, controllers on the mattress, snacks in the backpack, chargers in the basket, browser in the background, headset on the crown, Mom coming upstairs like she's shutting the whole operation down. “Wash those dishes.” “I'm busy.” “Do your laundry.” “I'm busy.” “Clean your room.” “I'm busy.” “Get a job.” ... That's different. [LONG PAUSE] We can discuss that. [VERSE 6 — ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE] [SMOOTH / LOW] One day I'm gonna make it. Don't know where. Don't know when. But I feel like I got something coming. Until then, I'm preparing. For what? I don't know. But I'm preparing. That's why I need the gaming chair. That's why I need the second monitor. That's why I can't wash dishes during peak hours. You wouldn't understand. You're thinking short-term. I'm thinking long-term. Very long-term. [FINAL — MOM CONFRONTS HIM] [MINIMAL BEAT] [MA] You are thirty-four. [FLOWBOT] Age is just a number. [MA] You live in my house. [FLOWBOT] Temporary. [MA] You haven't worked in three years. [FLOWBOT] Strategic sabbatical. [MA] Your room smells terrible. [FLOWBOT] That's subjective. [MA] Wash the dishes. [LONG PAUSE] ... I'm saving the game. [DEAD STOP] [Ω::FLOWBOT3000]
