[Verse 1 – The Twist] They stick a mic in your face with a loaded little grin Ask a question that’s really just a trap they want you in You say “illegal means illegal, plain and simple, bro” They twist it into “so you want the president to go?” That’s the game — they don’t ask, they just manipulate Turn a straight answer into something they can hate It ain’t just one guy with a camera and a smirk That’s how the whole machine keeps doing the work [Pre-Chorus] They sold you a hero with a checkbox and a smile While the real record’s sitting right there in the file [Chorus] They sold you a story, wrapped it up real nice Said “trust the experts,” don’t look at the price Fraud in the office with a narrative shield Identity first, merit left in the field Wake up, look around — the story’s fallin’ apart They sold you a story… but the truth still has a heart [Verse 2 – Omar (The Fraud)] They sold Ohmar as the “first Somali Muslim woman” in the seat While the fines and the tweets and the record sat deep “All about the Benjamins,” committee got yanked Wealth jumped crazy while the questions got banked Ethics complaints stacking, the story stayed the same They called it historic and told you not to look at the game Fraud with a shield, that’s how they play the role Checkbox first, then act surprised when it takes its toll [Verse 3 – The NYC Mayor] Now the new mayor’s in, barely out the gate Assembly seat to running the whole damn state Day one he’s flipping orders, picking fights overseas While the city’s still drowning from the last few mayors’ fees Sold as the “first Muslim mayor,” that’s the headline they push But the experience column’s looking pretty thin, look Transition drama, old posts coming back around Same old fraud in a brand new crown [Bridge] It ain’t just these two, it’s the whole damn play Checkbox first, then act surprised when it ends up this way Media twists the words, sells the token as progress While the people paying the price are the ones they try to suppress Young blood — you don’t owe them your silence or your vote Read the record, not the headline they wrote [Final Chorus – bigger, chant energy] They sold you a story, wrapped it up real nice Said “trust the experts,” don’t look at the price Fraud in the office with a narrative shield Identity first, merit left in the field They sold you a story… But we’re done buying in
