[Verse 1] I saw your face Before I knew your name In a paper house In a midnight frame You laughed in the dark Like you'd lived in my mind I woke with your touch Still burning my spine [Chorus] I dreamed you first Before this life could find you My heart rehearsed A thousand ways to write you Now every breath Feels like a line I underlined I dreamed you first Before our hands could intertwine [Verse 2] Then there you were At the corner café Same tilted smile Like the dream found the day We spilled our fears On a cracked wooden chair You traced your past With your thumb in the air [Chorus] I dreamed you first Before this life could find you My heart rehearsed A thousand ways to write you Now every breath Feels like a line I underlined I dreamed you first Before our hands could intertwine [Bridge] Someday you'll walk Down an aisle in white I'll shake like a leaf But I'll hold you tight (oh) We'll whisper our vows Over trembling rings "I knew you before" Is the only thing [Chorus] I dreamed you first Before this life could find you My heart rehearsed Every word I say beside you For all my days I’ll trace your name in every line I dreamed you first Now you’re my wife in my lifetime
