Before I Choose My Friends

Oh Lord, I have a big request which I must ask You now. Before I go to choose my friends, I pray You show me how. I know Your Word is very clear on what a friend should be. Please don't let others mix me up, but give me eyes to see. Keep me from friends who turn my head and make me think I'm cool. protect me from temptations with those things which break Your rules. Help me discern each person's words and actions which are fake. Guide me to see what's right, what's wrong; my future is at stake. Help me consider only friends, with lives that would please You, whose focus is to serve You well and do what You would do. Direct me to friends who are wise, who choose to stand for right, so when I spend my time with them, I'm walking in Your light. Lead me to those who read Your Book, and spend much time with You. Lord, help me to follow in their steps and learn about You, too! I know that if I follow You, and put You first in all, the friends I pick will be Your choice; my character will not fall. Prepare me, Lord, to be the one that such good friends will choose; to walk with them, close to Your heart, with You, we cannot lose! Oh Lord, I have a big request which I must ask You now.
