Our valley drowned beneath the rising flood, and the cross standing There above the lake became the sign that something of our world still remained. We climbed the mountainside with whatever strength we had left, carrying memories, and each other, carrying the will to begin again. The first stone we set in place was brushed in washed sky blue, the color of a sky that helped us To still believe we could rise. We built shelter from broken earth and scattered forest of bamboo, raising walls with our hands, shaping a new place to breathe Every step we took reminded us that we were still capable of living Step by step, we shaped a future on higher land, guided by the strength we carried uphill as friends when the flooded valley could no longer hold us. with every step, forward we became more certain of the life we chose to build In unity all of us together. We learned to breathe again Standing in the open air, hearing the forest alive again Beautifying our new home. The path we walked together With hope reminded us that survival wasn’t the end of our path to live it was the beginning of the one we were meant to build. The lake kept the memory of the place we once called home, thirty feet of water above the ground where we lived and prayed. But the cross rising from the lake reminded us we were still alive that faith can stand even when the ground gives way. Step by step, we shaped a future on higher land, guided by the strength we carried uphill as friends when the flooded valley could no longer hold us. with every step, forward we became more certain of the life we chose to build In unity all of us together We paused for a moment Standing on higher ground, thinking of the valley below How it had shaped our lives. The wind carried the memory of what once stood there, and we honored everything Everyone we had lost. One step became one more stone, and one more stone became the future we carried. A path leading us forward into the life we chose to build together. One step, one stone that leads us home.
