Space Cowboy

V6

[Verse 1] The vacuum is quiet, the stars are ablaze, Far from the desert and old Texas days. Silas sits high in a saddle of chrome, The Orion Spur is his new desert home. [Verse 2] His mount is old Barnaby, sturdy and wise, With bio-pelt fur that reflects cosmic skies. No oxygen needed, no water to pack, Just magnetic hooves on a deep space-track. [Verse 3] He pulls down his Stetson to block out the flare, Of a dying red giant that burns through the air. His environmental suit is sealed up tight, As they drift through the dark of the infinite night. [Chorus] So ride, space cowboy, across the divide, With a two-humped companion right by your side. Through the dust of the comets and rings of the moon, We’re heading on down to the starlight saloon. [Verse 4] They aren't chasing cattle or brands in the dust, They’re hunting the fuel that the colonies trust. Bright nebula-sprites pulsing neon and blue, Living gas wildcats that Silas must woo. [Verse 5] Then a solar flare erupts, blinding and bold, Washing the darkness in plasma and gold. The herd gets spooked bad by the gravity well, Heading straight for a black hole as dark as a shell. [Verse 6] Old Barnaby rears as the space-fabric tears, But Silas just smiles at the danger he dares. He kicks in his spurs and the thrusters ignite, Leaping off asteroids into the fight. [Chorus] So ride, space cowboy, across the divide, With a two-humped companion right by your side. Through the dust of the comets and rings of the moon, We’re heading on down to the starlight saloon. [Verse 7] He unholsters a lasso of blue light and force, An electromagnetic rope on a digital course. He spins it twice round in the silent expanse, And catches the lead sprite in mid-air romance. [Verse 8] He pulls them all back from the edge of the void, Safe from the pull of the dark asteroid. He traps them secure in the net on the hump, As Barnaby clears a final space-jump. [Verse 9] The gas giant rings glow ahead in the dark, Like a neon sign welcoming them to the park. Silas relaxes and smiles at the view, The range may be endless, but the cowboy is true. [Outro] Giddy up, Barnaby... Into the nebula we go. Just a cowboy and his camel, In the great galactic glow. Yeah, the stars are our campfire tonight... Ride on, boy. Ride on.
