[Verse 1] He wore the laurel like a blade Gold on his brow, blood in the shade Palace floors slick with fear Every bowed head drew him near He fed on praise like wine Wanted the world to kneel in line A thousand candles lit his face Still he asked for more space [Pre-Chorus] Hear the sandals on stone Hear the crowd turn to bone If the throne made him whole Then the throne ate his soul [Chorus] Nero, Nero Ash on your name Nero, Nero You loved the flame You ruled by terror You fed your pride Nero, Nero The whole of Rome cried [Verse 2] He split the house for a louder room Turned grief to silk, turned steel to bloom Sent men out with a nod Like fate was just another god The market held its breath at dawn Mothers counted who was gone He smiled as the city bent Nothing was an accident [Pre-Chorus] Hear the sandals on stone Hear the crowd turn to bone If the throne made him whole Then the throne ate his soul [Chorus] Nero, Nero Ash on your name Nero, Nero You loved the flame You ruled by terror You fed your pride Nero, Nero The whole of Rome cried [Bridge] Now the marble remembers Now the smoke stays low All your jeweled commands Turned to ruin below No hymn can clean What your hunger made Just a blackened crown And a history of rage [Final Chorus] Nero, Nero Ash on your name Nero, Nero You loved the flame You ruled by terror You fed your pride Nero, Nero The whole of Rome cried Nero, Nero Your empire burned Nero, Nero And the world still learned
