Hello everyone. Our journey across the Guianas continues as we head west from Paramaribo. To reach Georgetown, we traveled through the vast rice fields of the Nickerie district, where the horizon seems endless. Crossing the Corentyne River by ferry was a moment of true transition... leaving the Dutch influence of Suriname for the British colonial charm of Guyana. The road to the capital is a long stretch of coastal scenery and bustling villages. This track, 'Guiana Garden', captures the vibrant energy of Georgetown, from the towering wooden architecture of St. George’s Cathedral to the lush greenery of the gardens. It’s a story of unexpected warmth, finding a home in a small restaurant where the smell of Creole beef stew fills the air and music brings strangers together around a shared table. Let the driving rhythm and the bright acoustic chords carry you into the heart of this garden city. ******************************************* © 2026 ᒍᑌᒪIᗩᑎ KᗩIᑎE. The wooden walls are white and very clean. The prettiest sight that I have ever seen. I walk along the sea wall near the tide. With nowhere left for me to run or hide. (Chorus) Singing loud for a new day. Music leads the only right way. Refrain sounds under the sun's glow. Feel the rhythm start to flow. (Verse 2) The botanical garden is deep and very green. The calmest place that I have ever been. Victoria Regia lilies float on the dark pond. Of this quiet park I am very fond. The market buzzes with a very loud sound. Life is moving all over the firm ground. (Chorus) Singing loud for a new day. Music leads the only right way. Refrain sounds under the sun's glow. Feel the rhythm start to flow. (Verse 3) The Parliament building stands with a grey stone. I never feel like I am quite alone. The clock tower rings out a very clear chime. Measuring the passing of my own short time. Demerara river flows wide and very deep blue. The world looks fresh and also very new. (Chorus) Singing loud for a new day. Music leads the only right way. Refrain sounds under the sun's glow. Feel the rhythm start to flow. (Verse 4) A cook and his wife offer me meat. Spicy beef and rice are a perfect treat. They show me the way to the park. I stay in their house until the dark. I sing for the guests in their hall. My old hat sits there by the wall. (Chorus) Singing loud for a new day. Music leads the only right way. Refrain sounds under the sun's glow. Feel the rhythm start to flow.
