Attention Songwriters

(spoken) Attention songwriters. Lyricists. and Creators. (spoken) Let's talk about the real reason the music industry is losing its mind over AI right now. It has nothing to do with protecting art. It’s pure, unadulterated corporate panic and greed. The major labels spent billions buying up legacy catalogs like gold-backed bonds, and they are terrified that generative tools are going to break their tollbooths and devalue their monopolies. They want to lock down the technology, use it for their own commercial ads, and pocket the efficiency gains—while ensuring independent creators stay locked out and penniless. (spoken) Spotify, Apple, YouTube—every major gatekeeper is slamming the door on independent art. They want to protect their bloated old business models, and they want you at the bottom of the pile. (spoken) And if you actually manage to break through? If you pull in 70,000 or 80,000 views or streams? They find a loophole. They give you some lame excuse—blaming algorithms or flagging traffic—to legally withhold your payout. They collect the subscription fees on the back end, they keep the ad revenue, and the creator gets stiffed. Thousands of independent artists are running into the exact same wall. They take your work to draw the crowd, and then they refuse to pay you for it All... (spoken) Here is my proposal. (spoken) Let's stop playing a game where the house is rigged from the start. Let's build our own table. What if independent creators pool their talents? Some write, some edit, some curate—a true cooperative effort to push real art out into the open without asking for permission from corporations that view us as disposable. (spoken) I’m opening up my YouTube channel as a launchpad: look up The Agent’s Hour: Music Off the Wire. Go check it out—over 150 videos deep, pulling thousands of views, and built from the ground up over time. We aren't hiding the tools; we're putting the human artist front and center. We're interviewing the writers, breaking down the lyrics, and building a network while this whole space is still wild and new. (spoken) If you're a writer or a creator who wants to team up, share the load, and be part of this interview series, don't wait. Leave a comment right here, reach out, and let's get connected. (spoken) They want to starve out the independent creator? Let's build something they can't control, can't demonetize, and can't ignore. (spoken) The gatekeepers slammed the door. We’re building a new table. Are you in? The Lyrics Verse 1 They lock up the gates at Spotify and Apple town Decided that the new wave has got to be put down Scared of the shift, terrified of the sound Trying to bury every independent underground They run their own automated ads on the screen Profiting heavy off a digital machine While the creators who bring them the traffic and views Get hit with a loophole and served up the blues. Verse 2 Seventy, eighty grand streaming the track Building the numbers and watching your back Then out comes the excuse, a nice little game To legally steal while they keep all the frame They collect on the back end, subscriptions roll in While the working-class writer is told it’s a sin That’s why the spammers flood it with a factory line Forty songs an hour, wasting everybody's time. Chorus So let's build a new table, let's write a new rule The code is just a mechanism, an instrument, a tool If we share the load and we bring the real soul We can take the future and we'll take control No corporate permission, no gatekeeper fee— Just a network of makers, wild and free. Verse 3 A business proposal from the back of the pack To every single writer with a story on the track If you’re tired of the excuses and the rigged-up design Where they pocket your earnings and cross out your line Let's bring the interviews, let's put a face to the art Show 'em how it's done with a human-made heart We’re early to the border of a territory new— A cooperative movement, made by me and you. Chorus So let's build a new table, let's write a new rule The code is just a mechanism, an instrument, a tool If we share the load and we bring the real soul We can take the future and we'll take control No corporate permission, no gatekeeper fee— Just a network of makers, wild and free. Outro The ground floor is open. The partnership starts here. Let's build something they can't take from us.
