[Intro – heavy riff, pounding drums, strings swell] ([male], half-spoken, over the drop) My God, whom I praise… Do not remain silent. [Verse 1 – [male]] Wicked mouths and lying tongues Opened wide to tear me down Words of hatred all around They attack me with no cause I gave them friendship, they gave me a blade Evil for good is the price they paid Hatred for love, that’s the deal they made But I’m a man of prayer [Pre-Chorus – [male], [female] answering] [male]: Don’t stay quiet when they scream my name [female]: Don’t stay quiet in the fire and the flame Both: I’ve been on my knees while they spit in my face [Chorus – Both, huge anthem] Do not remain silent! My God whom I praise Rise like a lion Let justice have its day They surround me with hatred I won’t run away Do not remain silent God, hear me when I pray [Verse 2 – [male], more grit] He loved the curse, let it come back home Wore it like a coat down to the bone Never showed kindness, hunted the weak Broke the brokenhearted just to hear them scream May the accuser stand at his right hand When he’s tried, let the verdict stand I won’t play God, but I know You can You see every lie they planned [Pre-Chorus – [male] / [female]] [male]: Don’t stay quiet when the wicked speak [female]: Don’t stay quiet when I’m poor and weak Both: My heart is wounded, I’m fading like a shadow [Chorus – Both] Do not remain silent! My God whom I praise Rise like a lion Let justice have its day They surround me with hatred I won’t run away Do not remain silent God, hear me when I pray [Bridge – [female] soaring, then [male] growls under] [female]: Sovereign Lord, for Your name’s sake Out of the goodness of Your love Deliver me, I’m poor and needy My heart is bleeding out [male]: My knees give way, my body’s thin They shake their heads and call it sin While they curse—You bless While they attack—You stand [female]: Help me, Lord my God Save me by Your unfailing love Both: Let them know it was Your hand Let them know that You have done it [Breakdown – half-time, drums and bass rumble] [male]: May those who attack me be put to shame [female]: May Your servant rejoice [male]: Clothe the accuser in disgrace [female]: Wrap him in shame like a cloak Both: You stand at the right hand of the needy You save the ones they try to condemn [Final Chorus – Both, bigger, extra line] Do not remain silent! My God whom I praise Rise like a lion Let justice have its day They surround me with hatred I won’t run away Do not remain silent God, hear me when I pray With my mouth I will extol You In the throng I lift Your name You stand at the right hand of the needy You are never silent You are never the same [Outro – last hit, then ringing guitar] [male]: My God, whom I praise… [female]: You were never silent. Both: Amen.
