[Verse 1] They came again across the valley, Sure the old ground would serve them twice. I held my breath above the ridgeline, And waited for the answer, not the sign. [Pre-Chorus] Not from the place I watched before, Not by the road I knew. The Holy One went out ahead; I learned to follow through. [Chorus] You went before me, Lord of hosts, Where my strength could not reach. You broke the teeth of their boasting, You turned their iron into leaves. I did not claim the field as mine; I only moved when You said go. You went before me, Lord of hosts— The battle bowed beneath Your word. [Verse 2] A sound moved high among the branches, Like footsteps no eye could see. Then the silence gave its order: Rise, pursue, the way is free. I ran beneath a borrowed courage, With dust and fear against my face. The victory was not my making; I was carried by Your pace. [Pre-Chorus] Not by the map I drew in anger, Not by the strength I knew. [Bridge] Keep me from naming this my triumph, From wearing what Your hand has done. I know how quickly kings grow certain And mistake the gift for what they’ve won. If You are silent, I am waiting. If You say rise, then I will run. [Final Chorus] You went before me, Lord of hosts, Where my strength could not reach. You broke the teeth of their boasting, You scattered every claim to me. I will not call the field my own; I’ll follow where Your command goes. You went before me, Lord of hosts— And I will trust the One who goes. [Outro] Ahead of me. Ahead of me. I follow where You go.
