[Verse 1] The room went still when the power dipped A glass rolled slow by the speaker stack You grabbed my sleeve, said, “Stay right here” While the red exit sign cut the dark in half [Pre-Chorus] No names, no blame, just get outside Past the coat check, past the loading bay Keep your head down, keep moving fast We’ll tell the truth when we’re safe away [Chorus] Someone shot the DJ Now the whole room’s holding its breath Get out through the side door Leave the records spinning by themselves Someone shot the DJ I’m pulling you clear of the crowd No more dancing, no more lights Just your hand in mine right now [Verse 2] The bass went quiet, the sirens came A stranger unlocked the kitchen door You found your phone beneath a chair I kept watch from the service floor [Pre-Chorus] No names, no blame, just get outside Past the coat check, past the loading bay Keep your head down, keep moving fast We’ll tell the truth when we’re safe away [Chorus] Someone shot the DJ Now the whole room’s holding its breath Get out through the side door Leave the records spinning by themselves Someone shot the DJ I’m pulling you clear of the crowd No more dancing, no more lights Just your hand in mine right now [Bridge] When the morning reaches the avenue We’ll say exactly what we saw No rumor gets to write this night No fear gets to decide it all [Final Chorus] Someone shot the DJ Now the whole room’s finding its way Out through the side door Into the first gray light of day Someone shot the DJ But we made it out of the crowd No more dancing, no more lights Still your hand is holding mine now [Outro] Stay close Keep moving We’re safe outside
