--- Sometimes you really get "lucky". I was going for a nice blend of emotional country and hints of EDM as that's the "goal" of the "album". Concept is pretty simple. It's about the sometimes complicated relationship with your family, and the basic need of a child to hear certain things from their parent. Often the parent thinks the child "knows" these things already, but there are times when the actual spoken words are needed before it's too late. I of course added "cello" to the musical prompt as a "cheat code" for adding emotional depth to the song . . . lol. The rest of the acoustic elements worked nicely, and I love the way that Suno handled the lyrics that were split in the chorus. The first half has a nice emotional country vibe, and the second half elevates a bit with the EDM influences to pick up the tempo and make it more uplifting. The Interlude has the right amount of cello in it, and I love the fact it dropped out all music for the start of the third verse. Sometimes Suno just really knows what it's doing . . . lol. This really showed off the vocal "range" of the persona too. Some loud spots, some very tender spots, some nicely held notes, all with keeping true to the country base that the persona came from. So yeah, sometimes you get really luck with the first attempt at the song! ~David --- [Musical Introduction] [Warm acoustic guitar, restrained atmosphere, subtle pad breathing underneath] [Verse 1] Mama said, “Be kind, but don’t let ’em walk on you” Daddy said less, but his silence spoke too Learned how to read the room, learned how to stand tall Learned how to catch myself before the fall Some words stuck like stitches in my skin Some never came, but I felt ’em sink in I packed those lessons in an old suitcase Carried ’em out into a bigger place [Pre-Chorus] I know love ain’t always loud or clear But I still lean in when I need to hear— [Chorus] I need you to tell me before you’re gone That I’m doing alright, that I’m holding on That you see me trying, even when I’m wrong I need you to tell me before you’re gone Say you’re proud, say you believe Say I’m stronger than the doubts in me Let me hear it, just once, full and strong I need you to tell me before you’re gone [Verse 2] I left that porch for a wider world Bright lights, fast dreams, sails unfurled I stumbled hard, yeah I lost my way But I learned what courage costs that way You let me fall, you didn’t interfere But you stayed close, you stayed right here A hand up waiting, no “I told you so” Just a quiet hug when I came home low [Pre-Chorus] I don’t need perfection or a rewrite Just the truth, in real time— [Chorus] I need you to tell me before you’re gone That I’m doing alright, that I’m holding on That you see me trying, even when I’m wrong I need you to tell me before you’re gone Say you’re proud, say you respect The roads I chose, the turns I missed Let me hear it, just once, full and strong I need you to tell me before you’re gone [Musical Interlude] [Gentle build — acoustic continues, subtle EDM pulse begins to rise, emotional not aggressive] [Verse 3] I’m still your kid with the same last name Still chasing fire, still scared of the flame Still learning who I am out here Still needing your voice when the path ain’t clear I won’t always get it right, I know But I’m carrying what you gave me, so— [Bridge] If tomorrow comes too fast And all we have is the past I don’t want to guess or wonder I don’t want silence pulling me under [Final Chorus] I need you to tell me before you’re gone That you love who I’ve become That my choices don’t break your heart That I was enough from the start Say you’re proud, say it out loud Say my name like you always have Let me hear it, just once, full and strong I need you to tell me before you’re gone [Lyrical Outro] Family first, yeah, even when it’s complicated Love runs deeper than what we ever say Say what you need too before you wait too long I need you to tell me . . . . . . tell me . . . . . . tell me before you're gone . . . [Musical Ending] [Acoustic guitar resolves gently, soft atmospheric fade]
