[Verse 1: Calculating, purposeful] The world I knew lies out of reach, Divided by the Veil I made. The orb could open what I sealed, Restore the world that I betrayed. But centuries had left me weak; Its gathered power was too great. I needed someone else to break The seal, and suffer for my sake. [Pre-Chorus: Building anticipation] A magister who sought a throne, Who thought the heavens his to claim. He'd loose the power within the stone; The blast would end his foolish game. [Chorus: Resolute, driving] There was a way, there was a way, To bring the old world back to light. One borrowed hand, one price to pay, One death, and I could set things right. The orb would open, he would fall, And I would take what he had freed. I had accounted for it all— Or so it seemed to me. [Verse 2: Alarm, mounting dread] The temple vanished into flame, The sky was torn above the dead. The Divine was lost; the Breach remained, And something dreadful lay ahead. The rifts drew spirits through the Veil, Where fear could twist them into hate. Their voices rose in anguished wails, And I had brought them to this fate. [Pre-Chorus: Frustration, urgency] The wretched man had lived somehow, Though all that power should have killed. I needed answers, here and now, Before more blood and fear were spilled. [Chorus: Disbelief, driving] There was a way, there was a way, To bring the old world back to light. One borrowed hand, one price to pay, One death, and I could set things right. The orb was opened; he did not fall, And now the Breach consumed the sky. I had accounted for it all— Except the man who would not die. [Bridge: Frantic, incredulous] He lived. How could he live? The force should have consumed him. What held him here? What did I miss? And who now bears the mark? [Bridge: Urgent determination] No answer yet. No time to wait. The rifts are widening by the hour. Someone survived the blast and bears The mark that holds the relic's power. [Verse 3: Cautious, calculating] They know me only by my name, A wandering apostate, nothing more. I cannot tell them why I came, Or what the orb should have restored. I offer counsel where I can, And answers drawn from what I've seen. They need not know how much I planned, Nor what my part in this has been. [Verse 4: Observant, curious] The Seeker calls for us to move, While soldiers struggle to regroup. A Day-lish woman bears the mark, An unknown elf among the troops. The power in her hand may prove The means to close what I helped start. I know the orb from which it came; I cannot tell her of my part. [Final Chorus: Resolute, purposeful] There is a way, there is a way, Though not the one I meant to find. The Breach must close; the orb can wait. I've other matters on my mind. They have the will; I have the means To help them face what lies ahead. For now, I'll offer what I know, And leave the rest unsaid. [Outro: Intimate, intrigued] The Breach is closed, though rifts remain, And Haven's roofs are white with snow. She asks what else the mark contains; I tell her only some I know. Her questions turn to dreams and lore, To spirits, magic, ancient days. She listens, then she asks for more; I find I do not turn away.
