REVELATION [VERSE 1 — FEMALE / CLOSE-MIC / LOW MELODY / FRAGILE / SPARSE KEYS + DEEP AMBIENT PAD] What scared me… wasn’t what you told me, it was how you said it… like after that night you might not be around. You spoke different that evening, no defenses, no disguise. Told me things you’d kept hidden, things you could barely say out loud. Mistakes… bad decisions… parts of you you couldn’t stand to face. And I just waited till you finished, not to judge you… I just wanted to hold you. [MELODY LIFTS / BREATHY HARMONY] You said some heavy things, said sometimes you disgust yourself… and somehow that hurt me more than anything you’d ever done. While you listed every reason you could find to hate yourself, I was searching for a way to make you see none of it mattered. [PRE-CHORUS — AIRY / ASCENDING / SUB BASS ENTERS] And that’s the worst part… Nothing that you told me made me care any less. I wasn’t counting up your sins, I was listening to your pain. It was the way you said it… like you were getting tired of even trying to save yourself. [CHORUS — FULL MELODY / WIDE REVERB / TRAP-SOUL BLOOM] You talked like you were leaving… like you were making peace with everything. I thought it was a confession, now I don’t know what it really meant. You talked like you were leaving… and I thought you’d come back to me. I don’t know if you told me your sins or if you were saying goodbye to me. [VERSE 2 — BEAT PULLS BACK / RESTLESS / SUBTLE SHOEGAZE SWELLS] The first day I said, “He just needs some room.” The second day I thought, “Tomorrow he’ll call.” By the third I checked my phone more than I wanna admit. By the fifth I read your messages for something hidden in them. One week… and that conversation started changing in my mind. Every “forgive me” sounded different, every silence weighed a little more. Why did you say “I’m sorry” with a voice that sounded final? I thought telling me everything was taking weight off your shoulders… not leaving me a goodbye inside of a confession. [BRIDGE — DRUMS DROP / NEAR-WHISPER → SOFT MELODY] Maybe you thought after hearing all of it I’d love you less… You really don’t know me. I never needed you innocent, or perfect, or good all the time. I just wanted you to come back… to show up… to say: “I’m okay.” Because your sins never kept me awake… [PAUSE] Your silence did. [FINAL SECTION — NO DRUMS / LOW SUB PULSE / SPOKEN-SUNG] Day ten… nothing. Day eleven… nothing. Day twelve… I don’t even know if I should text you. Day thirteen… I stare at your name… and send nothing. [LONG PAUSE / ROOM TONE / UNRESOLVED GUITAR HAZE] Day fourteen… I don’t know if you’re far away. I don’t know if you’re okay. I don’t know if you just needed space… or if that night you were saying goodbye. [OUTRO — BARELY SUNG / REVERB DISSOLVES] And the worst part… nothing you told me made me love you any less. The only thing that changed… is now I don’t know where you are.
