Judith CH04 - "He Heard Our Cries" V.04 - By S.L.G.

V3.5

Verse 1: The children of Israel in Judea's land, Heard tales of Holofernes, they couldn't stand. He'd spoiled the temples, brought shame and woe, Their hearts were heavy, their fears did grow. Chorus: But God above, He heard their cries, From Jerusalem's walls to the open skies. In unity, they turned to pray, That He'd guide their steps, show them the way. Verse 2: They'd just returned from captivity's hold, In Judea they gathered, their story unfolds. The vessels, the altar, the sacred site, Were profaned by deeds, a grievous blight. Chorus: But God above, He heard their cries, From Jerusalem's walls to the open skies. In unity, they turned to pray, That He'd guide their steps, show them the way. Verse 3: They sent word to Samaria, nearby lands, Bethoron, Belmen, and all the bands. They fortified mountains, secured the way, Prepared for battle, night and day. Chorus: But God above, He heard their cries, From Jerusalem's walls to the open skies. In unity, they turned to pray, That He'd guide their steps, show them the way. Verse 4: High Priest Joacim, in Jerusalem's keep, Sent word to the people, their fears to sweep. They cried to the Lord with hearts ablaze, In sackcloth and ashes, they sought His gaze. Chorus: But God above, He heard their cries, From Jerusalem's walls to the open skies. In unity, they turned to pray, That He'd guide their steps, show them the way. Verse 5: With sackcloth on loins, they humbly prayed, Their voices rose high, their pleas conveyed. Before the temple, on their faces fell, Beseeching the Lord, their story to tell. Chorus: But God above, He heard their cries, From Jerusalem's walls to the open skies. In unity, they turned to pray, That He'd guide their steps, show them the way. Verse 6: High Priest Joacim and all the priests there, With ashes on mitres, offered fervent prayer. They cried to the Lord with all their might, For grace on Israel, to end their plight. Chorus (Repeat): But God above, He heard their cries, From Jerusalem's walls to the open skies. In unity, they turned to pray, That He'd guide their steps, show them the way.
