Do you know of the goat men of lord Howe Have you heard their impossible gamble How two lads decided to catch feral goats And train them for a mountain ramble The problem you see was climbing the tree Was only part of the mission After collecting the seed And bagging it up The had to carry it down for addition The dollars they earned We’re soon spent and burned In parties and various shindigs But training the goats to carry the seed was better than training the wild pigs They went high and low where mountain goats go On rocky ledges quite sticky Then getting a dozen with help from the cousins They rigged them with bridles so tricky On leads made of hemp They loaded them up and guided them down to collection For the bureaucracy crew to check and review The bushel amount for inspection Now the goats have all gone Along with the pigs And the wild cats are No Longer lurking And the seeders are still out there doing their trade With no goats to help them working So here’s to Ned ambrum and Lou The clever bush two And the goats Who helped with the seeding They carried on shoulders Palms seeds over boulders With The two lord howe Islanders leading Singing far de Lar lar Far de lar loo So long to the wild goats of Lord Howe
