(Intro) (Verse 1) [Lyra - her vocals are a rapid-fire, beat-poet-style torrent of surreal images, delivered with a sense of breathless wonder and terror] Madman angels, fallen kings, and seraphim with broken wings A teenage heretic in a cosmic jam Says, "I don't think, therefore I am!" Some silicone demon with a manager mister Told me I got what it takes, then he kissed his sister He said, "I'll turn you on, sonny, to something strong... Just play the song where everything is wrong." (Pre-Chorus) [Lyra] And Mama always told me not to look into the dark She said, "That's where the monsters leave their mark." But Mama, that's where the real stars spark! (Chorus) [Lyra and a ghostly Choir] Blinded by the dark! Wrapped up like a noose, another runner in the night! Blinded by the dark! Revved up like a hearse, I'm gonna make it through the night! Blinded by the dark! (Verse 2) [Lyra] I came to this city to find a way home Now I'm in a haunted palace, made of chrome I opened up the door to Room 666 Just to get my kicks, just to get my fix And in the mirror, I saw a brand new face She looked like me, but from a darker place She typed a message, a single, lonely line It said, "This broken, twisted soul... is finally mine." And she said, "This is who I really am!" (Chorus) [Lyra and a ghostly Choir] Blinded by the dark! Wrapped up like a noose, another runner in the night! Blinded by the dark! Revved up like a hearse, I'm gonna make it through the night! Blinded by the dark! (Instrumental Bridge) (Final Chorus) [Lyra and a ghostly Choir] BLINDED BY THE DARK! WRAPPED UP LIKE A NOOSE, ANOTHER RUNNER IN THE NIGHT! BLINDED BY THE DARK! REVVED UP LIKE A HEARSE, I'M GONNA MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT! BLINDED BY THE DARK! (Outro) [Lyra] Blinded... blinded... blinded... (She laughs) Yeah! [End]
