(Verse 1) Old Jezebel had her prophets ready to do battle Their God, whose name was Baal, thought he was in control He had four hundred on his side, to Jehovah’s one Their victory seemed so close those prophets mocked the man of God (verse 2) Baal’s prophets laid their sacrifice high upon the altar They started to cry to their god to let the fire fall And when there was no fire coming down to show his power They cut themselves and shouted for the fire to come down (chorus) We’re gonna call down the fire like Elijah To destroy Satan’s evil plan We’re gonna walk in vict’ry with our Savior As He leads us by the hand (verse 3) Old Elijah, he walked up to that altar He prepared his sacrifice and laid it down in faith Then he filled four barrels up with water And poured it on the altar ‘til it flowed all around (chorus) We’re gonna call down the fire like Elijah To destroy Satan’s evil plan We’re gonna walk in vict’ry with our Savior As He leads us by the hand (Pre-Bridge) Then quietly and simply, Eljah called to heaven “Oh Lord, hear me now and let these people know’ That you alone are God of heaven and of earth And that I am your servant and have carried out your word (Bridge) Suddenly a fiery flame came down out of heaven It lapped up the sacrifice and the water all around The people fell down on their face and worshipped Jehovah The cried and said the Lord if the only God (alternate chorus) But let us call down the fire of Elijah May we burn with a fire that will touch the hearts of men That they will see the light and will turn from their sin And cry that the Lord is the only God Jehovah is the only God Jesus Christ the only God
