Act V – The Fade Into Silence 12) Duck, Duck, Gray Duck

[Verse 1] Whispers in the schoolyard air, Shadows move but no one’s there, Laughter’s hiding something deep, Games we play don’t let us sleep. [Pre-Chorus] Footsteps racing, can’t escape, Frozen smiles on every face, One by one the circle breaks, And somebody takes your place. [Chorus] Duck, duck, gray duck—don’t turn around, I hear your name in the haunting sound, Duck, duck, gray duck—it’s more than a game, Every time you call my name, I fall, I fall— Duck, duck, gray duck. [Verse 2] Childhood rules with a sharpened edge, Voices hiding beneath the pledge, Running faster, out of breath, Chasing closer, closer to death. [Bridge] Tag me once and the lights go out, Spin in silence, scream or shout, Ghosts of the playground sing along, We’ve been playing all night long. [Chorus] Duck, duck, gray duck—don’t turn around, I hear your name in the haunting sound, Duck, duck, gray duck—it’s more than a game, Every time you call my name, I fall, I fall— Duck, duck, gray duck. [Outro / Chant] Duck… duck… gray duck… Voices fade but they’ll come back, Duck… duck… gray duck… Tag—you’re it, there’s no way back.
