[Spoken Word] Up next we have "Whispering Hope". It was written in 1868 by songwriter "Septimus Winner" under the pseudonym of "Alice Hawthrone". (Not sure why he did that). He had also composed “Listen to the Mocking Bird,” “Ten Little Indians” and “Oh where has my Little Dog Gone?” but when Winner had wrote "Whispering Hope" as a comforting parlor song, he never intended it as a religious song and was somewhat amazed, and amused, when verses were apparently added which made it an extremely popular church hymn! [Spoken Word] But this version we are about to play, uses only Winner's original lyrics. Oh, by the way, just of note, His brother "Joe E. Winner", being jealous of his brother‟s success wrote “Little Brown Jug.”! Which you've heard here too, on Public Domain Radio. [Song behind] [Verse 1] Soft as the voice of angel, Breathing a lesson unheard, Hope with a gentle persuasion, Whispers her comforting word..
