[Verse 1] My grandfather spoke in actions, My mother answered life with grace, They taught me that a steady kindness Leaves a mark no years erase. You may never see the harvest From the seeds you choose to sow, Still the shade beneath a good tree Helps a future stranger grow. [Pre-Chorus] So take what love has handed you, Add the best that you can give, We are brief, but what we pass along Can teach the years to live. [Chorus] Carry the light, carry the light, Hold it steady through the night. When one grows tired, another stands, We keep tomorrow in our hands. Carry the light, carry it on, Long after we have travelled on. Heart to heart and hand to hand, Carry the light across the land. [Verse 2] You do not need a famous name To change the temperature of a room, A word of faith at the proper moment Can give a hidden dream some room. A patient ear can stop a sorrow From becoming someone’s cage, A little truth delivered gently Can rewrite an angry page. [Bridge] Who holds the light? We hold the light! Who shares the light? We share the light! When the wind comes? Guard the flame! When hope feels small? Speak its name! No hero stands alone forever, No bridge is built by one, Every hand becomes important When the crossing has begun. [Final Chorus] Carry the light, carry the light, Hold it steady through the night. When one grows tired, another stands, We keep tomorrow in our hands. Carry the light, carry it on, Long after we have travelled on. Heart to heart and hand to hand, Carry the light across the land. [Outro] Carry it higher. Carry it farther. Carry it kindly. Carry it on.
