TIME 020 – Where Weena Vanished | The Time Machine
(Verse 1) The Traveller emerged at last beyond the burning wood, And turned to find young Weena where beside him she had stood. But only smoke and embers marked the pathway from the fire, And every hope he carried sank beneath a darker pyre. (Verse 2) He called her name into the haze and searched the blackened ground, But nothing in the silence gave the faintest answering sound. No footprint led him onward and no movement stirred the air, The future closed around him with the knowledge she was not there. (Chorus) Where Weena vanished, no one living there could ever say, If Morlocks dragged her downward or the flames had swept her away. The one kind heart he trusted in that distant world was gone, And now beneath the future sky he faced the dark alone. (Verse 3) He searched among the ashes where the shattered branches lay, And feared the fire had taken her before the break of day. Yet deeper still he dreaded that the Morlocks in the night, Had seized her from beside him in the chaos of the fight. (Verse 4) No answer came to comfort him, no certainty remained, Only loss beneath the smoke where burning darkness stained. The bond that made the future seem less alien had been torn, And left him like a stranger in a world where grief was born. (Chorus) Where Weena vanished, no one living there could ever say, If Morlocks dragged her downward or the flames had swept her away. The one kind heart he trusted in that distant world was gone, And now beneath the future sky he faced the dark alone. (Bridge) He carried on with sorrow where companionship had died, And felt the weight of silence where she once had walked beside. The ages seemed more empty than the miles he had outrun, For losing one small friendship made the future colder than the sun. (Outro) He left the ruined forest as the morning light grew pale, With Weena only living now in memory and tale. No hand remained to guide him and no gentle voice was known, The Traveller moved onward through the endless years alone.
