[Verse 1] Automatic doors slide open wide Escalators hum and glide Fountain fountain in the center court Running low on time and short Smell of cinnamon in the air Teenagers with messy hair Walking past the window display Looking for a place to stay [Chorus] At the local shopping mall Where the giant banners fall Underneath the glass dome sky Watching all the world go by Neon signs and polished floors Lost between two department stores We got nowhere else to be At the mall, just you and me [Verse 2] Arcade lights on the top level floor Quarters clinking by the door Soft pretzel in a paper tray Throwing all our cash away Security guard on a slow patrol Trying hard to keep control Map says you are standing here Watching seasons disappear [Chorus] At the local shopping mall Where the giant banners fall Underneath the glass dome sky Watching all the world go by Neon signs and polished floors Lost between two department stores We got nowhere else to be At the mall, just you and me [Guitar Solo] [Outro] Closing announcement over the sound Lights start dimming all around Footsteps echoing down the hall Say goodbye to the local mall Yeah, the local mall
