Day 4 upon the Camino way,
We laced our shoes to start the day.
With sunscreen on and spirits keen,
And protein piled beside the greens!
For Donna, our nutrition queen,
Declared, “Eat veggies—keep it clean!”
The bus rolled out… then some cried, “Wait! Are we redoing yesterday’s fate?!” To Palas de Rei again we go?
Groundhog Day in Spain—oh no!
 Compass pointed straight and true,
From Melid to Arzúa through.
And as we gathered on the way,
Bethlyn shared what God would say.
From Psalm 46 her message came,
A steady hope through wind and rain: “God is our refuge, strong and near,
A present help when troubles appear.
Though earth may shake and mountains fall,
Be still—our God is over all.” Her words sank deep in every heart,
A sacred and encouraging start.
Some paused to pray inside the church,
A quiet place for souls to search. A pilgrim left her hat behind And asked, “A spare?” Could anyone find. So Phil kindly offered his, though a bit used,
While Andrew watched thoughtfully, quite amused,
“That hat looks sweaty, old, and smelly—
Best buy a brand-new one for Ellie!”
While Leslie nearby watched the scene And thought, “A new shirt would be nice in green.” Now getting lost became the theme— The Camino’s favorite team sport, it seemed.
For Lindsey, Anne, John, others too,
Took scenic routes with quite the view.
The smoothie stop was hard to find,
But memories formed of every kind. Then lunchtime brought its own surprise—
A fish arrived with staring eyes!
The waiter served most everyone,
But latecomers? Their meals were none.
Orders vanished into space,
So patience won the lunchtime race. But sangria flowed in mighty streams,
Restoring joy and pilgrim dreams.
So much was poured with laughter bright,
Some forgot to pay outright! And now tonight still waits ahead,
With stories shared and hearts being led.
Young Life Spain will soon proclaim
The ways God moves in Jesus’ name.
And as we walk this sacred road,
We feel Him lighten every load.
Through wrong turns, laughter, prayer, and play,
God meets us fresh on the Camino way.
