"Neon Babylon (The Galveston Wall)" [Intro - Spoken Interlude - Sam (female)] (The track opens with the low, ominous rumble of thunder out over the Gulf. The hurdy-gurdy whines a slow, Middle-Eastern-flavored drone, blending with the heavy slide of a steel guitar. Spoken smooth, dark, and prophetic.) If you read the old books, they tell you how the empires fall. It’s never an army from the outside; it’s the rot from the inside. The golden calves get replaced by neon screens, the truth gets traded for a cheap trick, and the cities start to burn themselves down. The mechanic looks across the water at the mainland and sees the writing on the wall. History isn't just repeating itself. It’s putting on a grand finale. [Verse 1 - Matt (male)] (A massive, distorted 808 sub-bass drops in like an earthquake, sidechaining a slow, heavy-foot stomp. A percussive banjo ticks ominously. Matt’s voice is a low, gravelly growl, full of disgust and warning.) I look across the water at the mainland lights I see the people blinding themselves in the night They're bowing down to statues made of plastic and wire And dancing in the middle of a chemical fire! They sold away the foundation, tore up the root Just to fight over the scraps and the Babylon loot It’s Sodom and Gomorrah with a digital face A catastrophic failure of the human race! I watch the towers glowing in the modern decay Just waiting for the fire to wash it away! [Pre-Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (A blues organ swells with a heavy, church-like chord, while the wailing harmonica screams like a siren.) (Matt - male) The sky is turning red... (Sam - female) ...the water’s running black. (Matt - male) The devil is in the driver's seat... (Sam - female) ...and he ain't looking back. [Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (Explosive, apocalyptic Southern rock-trap drop. The slide guitar with talk box wails a filthy, mechanical, desert-blues riff over a heavy kick drum.) (Matt - male) We’re living in the ruins of a Babylon dream! (Sam - female) ...caught inside the belly of a dying machine! (Matt - male) It’s Sodom and Gomorrah in the modern day! (Sam - female) ...watching all the sanity just wither away! (Matt - male) But I’m staying on the island where the iron is thick! (Both) Let the empire crumble like a broken brick! Yeah, heaven’s gonna rain on the neon town— So I’m locking up the gates while the world burns down! [Verse 2 - Matt (male)] (The beat strips back to a dirty, hydraulic swamp groove. The mouth harp twangs a dark, creeping rhythm.) I keep the Bimmer fueled and the .380 clean 'Cause the folks across the bridge are getting feral and mean They don't know what they are, they don't know what they need Just a whole generation running on greed But I got Jackie in the fortress, I got the kids in the back We ain't stepping one foot on the Babylon track They can worship the chaos, they can worship the noise While I’m guarding the perimeter and keeping my poise! You can't argue with an empire that wants to collapse So I’m wiping the mainland right off of my maps! [Pre-Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (The Viking war horn blows a massive, earth-shaking blast, warning of the storm.) (Matt - male) The thunder’s rolling in... (Sam - female) ...the lightning strikes the sand. (Matt - male) I’m a heavy-metal outcast... (Sam - female) ...in a foreign land. [Chorus - Matt (male) & Sam (female)] (Maximum volume. Turntable scratches chop up the war horn, blending hip-hop destruction with outlaw metal weight.) (Matt - male) We’re living in the ruins of a Babylon dream! [Bridge - Matt (male)] (The instruments drop completely out except for a single acoustic guitar string snapping, and the sound of heavy rain hitting a tin roof. Matt speaks directly into the mic, completely serious, dead-calm.) You don't need a theology degree to see it. When a society starts celebrating its own destruction, you don't grab a bucket of water. You grab your family, you shut the heavy iron doors, and you let the fire do its job. [Outro - Sam (female) & Matt (male)] (The heavy, sludgy 808 beat crashes back in for a final, grinding ride-out, slowing down like a dying engine.) (Sam - female - singing smooth, haunting, and echoing) Neon Babylon... turning into dust... (Matt - male - spoken, a low, rumbling exhale) Let it fall. (The sound of a massive thunderclap from heaven, followed by the heavy clank of a deadbolt sliding into place on the island. Absolute silence.)
